We are Evolving

  • Features that we talk about here are features that are planned for the first stable release of Pious Paladin. In it's Alpha stage not all features will be available, and many will not work correctly.

Pious is a big change

We fully expect there to be problems during the transtition. It's not a small transition either, and we know that. If you see something that is not working please give us your patience and rest assured ... nothing is getting cut. Worst case scenario will be a feature is delayed.

The map tool box is an all in one tool box for interacting with the map. Pious Paladin removes the layer tabs on the bottom of the map and all the tool options for each layer tab. The map tool box replaces all of these tools in a stream lined window.

The Layers Tree

The layers tree is the fantasitc new way to interact with the different map layers. There are four different layers background, grid, miniatures, canvas. Every time an item is loaded to the map it is also placed inside the corresponding layer node. Client users can manipulate the object through the layer tree, or directly on the map. Z Ordering is accomplished by ordering items in the layer. The layers tree even allows for sub layers to be added assisting in organizing your maps.

The Images Tree

The images tree replaces all that was the hassle of finding images to use as miniatures. Users will no longer need to stress out trying to find a good set of images … all of the images in the images tree are used with permissions and are free to copy and re-use. The copyright and license information of the images can be found (some where). To add images to the map from the images tree, just drag and drop them there.

The Shapes Tree

Shapes are a new addition to the map. Shapes are designed to allow the map feature to become a full fledged cartography feature. Shapes can be created to act as buildings. They have a darkness level and react to light effects.

The shapes tree will hold preformatted shapes ready to drag and drop into your play area. Users can also add their own custom shapes to the map with the new tools provided in the map tool box.

The Effects Tree

Effects are also a new addition to the map. Effects will provide areas of darkness and light for your game maps. In Pious Paladin effects will initially replace the fog layer. Effects are framework that can be expanded on, allowing for more than just areas of light and dark.
